Disney Trip Tuesday (day 1)

Since I have so many pictures (actually 453!) from our Disney trip. I am going to go trip day by trip day over the next 6 Disney Tip Days (or 3 weeks) and share just some of them with you all.

Day 1 - Monday

We got up late and headed to the Magic Kingdom around 11am. We were shocked at the little crowds. We decided to head over to Thunder Mountain and get that out of the way. Allison did ride it and screamed the whole time but she made it!

Then we took the monorail over to the Grand Floridian for lunch with the Whalen/Lloyd family...Esther, Mary, Mark, Amy and their daughters, Megan and Erin The girls have been in dance together with our girls for 3 years and all have become good friends. Then we all went back to the Magic Kingdom and rode several rides together. Ride lines were all a 5-10 minutes wait. It was muggy hot! Yuk! So that took alot out of us later.

This is my favorite shot of the day! My new Canon S5IS camera ROCKS! We got a spot in front of the castle for the "Wishes" fireworks show. Esther, Amy's mom was amazed by the show! You should have seen her face. Priceless!

Made for Monday

Is this not the cutest owl you have ever seen? Allison and I made him together last night. I was looking at this blog below and Allison came into my office and saw it on the monitor. She said "How cute! Can I make him?" Why not! She helped me punch out the shapes and glue him together. Then she picked out the colors of the card and stamped the background. She loved it so much, we made two other fun punch cards that are the surprises for the Halloween workshop. Wait til you see them! We followed the colors of cardstock by Ruth's tutorial and then used Really Rust, More Mustard and Old Olive. Festive Friday

Today, I am going to show you some items from my Halloween workshop! All of these projects are super easy to make!

Wacky Wednesday skipping Thursday

This Wacky Wednesday is a day late but never the less here it is: These little baskets are so easy to make! You can fill them with Dove Dark Chocolates (yummy) or whatever your weakness of chocolate is. You can also create Christmas, Halloween, Birthday themed baskets. Just put the treats in a clear baggie with a ribbon tie and place in basket. I tried to find the web link to make this cute thing but I am running out of time today. If you are interested, let me know at nutmeg1197@aol.com. I will email it to you once I find it. We made these baskets at one of my workshops in May of this year. Speaking of workshops, I had time on my drive home from Florida to think up some great workshops for this holiday season coming up. I am working slowly on the items to show you. Disney Tip Tuesday

Sorry everyone, I will have to post later tonight as I have to go to work, then Megan's dance class and watch Dancing with the Stars! I will do my best to download Disney pictures to share. My house is a mess (vacation laundry done but not put away), finally got my van back on Wednesday afternoon (but not sure if it is really fixed correctly) , busy work week and Dancing with the Stars started back(straight 3 nights a doosy and tired of Cloris already!).

Here is a card I made for my best friend Marisa's daughter Alexa. It was her 2nd birthday in July. I picked colors that matched the wrapping paper of her gift.

I used Summer Sun, Taken with Teal, Pumpkin Pie, Pixie Pink and Whisper White cardstock. I used my aqua painter to watercolor in the hippo using basic gray ink. The ribbon is green galore grosgrain. I wanted a background so I just handwrote some 2's all over. I love the envelope too. I used the birthday roller on the pumpkin pie in pixie pink ink. Click on picture to get a closer look.

Well, I have been slowly getting back into a routine since vacation ended on Sunday. I did not get my van back on Friday so we had to take the Suburban. But not before getting new tires on it on Saturday! Ugh!

We had a wonderful time at DisneyWorld! Perfect weather, good times, awesome food (except Mexico dinner) and lots of memories made! I will posted pictures as soon as I can. I have to download them and set up Photopass too.

Festive Friday

Back to Christmas cards this week! I just love this card! Simple and clean and gleaming! This picture does not show the glitter on the white trees. Makes the whole card! I cased this wonderful card from Andrea Walford on her blog:

I used Kraft and Old Olive cardstock. Craft White ink and Chocolate Chip classic ink for the sentiment. The craft ink takes time to dry so I sprinkled Dazzling Diamond Glitter on the trees and it sticks to the trees. I sponged white craft ink of the edges of the card and the smaller rectangle piece. Makes it seem snowy. The tree stamp set is Lovely as a Tree and the sentiment is from Heard from the Heart stamp set. Here are two other examples using the same style but a little different. I added the brown grosgrain ribbon to these. I might be making many more of these for my Christmas card selection this year!

Today is WDW, we are heading to Animal Kingdom for a character breakfast. Howard and I went to one back in 1989 on our first trip together and we were the only people is the room with NO kids! Well, actually I was with ONE KID! HOWARD! Then off to Epcot to do our traditional 80 minutes around the world countries before the Illumination fireworks. Great way to end our vacation!

Disney Tip Thursday

Today we plan to go to Blizzard Beach! My fingers are crossed! Megan has been begging to go for the past 2 years. I just hope that the weather is nice that day. Rain is in the forecast all week, but we can make the best of things in the park, but a water park and raining is another story.

The park is open 10-5, so we have dinner planned at Grand Floridian's Narcoosee's. It is our splurge dinner of the week. We all get a little dressed up for the night. Yummy meal and make room for a delicious dessert! Then top it off by watching the fireworks "Wishes" and the Electric Pagent Parade on the waters of the lagoon.

AHHHHHH! P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N!

Wacky Wednesday

Finally, I can show you this great gift package I made for my dear sister-in-law's birthday!!!

The whole thing started with the cutest apron that I got at Target. She wears aprons when she cooks. Then I saw this bag and tag project on UStamp and just had to create it. Then it took on a life of its own! Next was the notepad holder and beaded pen (see close up). Then the clip for bookmark in a cookbook. Last was the big jumbo clip to hold recipe cards. Now I found some cards at Target in cherries print so I bought them so she could make her own cards to send. No picture of them, sorry. I could have done much more but thought enough of the cherries! Maureen loved it all. She is my biggest fan of this blog! Checks it everyday and gives me tips and compliments. She is the best! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her!

We are at Hollywood Studios today! Very good lunch at an indoor theater in a 55 Chevy! Here we are the last trip at the place. So cool!

Disney Tip Tuesday

So today we are at Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! I know Halloween is September? But I really wanted to do this for years but we can not go during October because of school. So we HAD to do it this time once I saw they had dates for this week. Disney does these special events during seasonal holiday times of the year. They make it a special ticket event and close the park to everyone else early so there are a limited number of people that can be in the park. Another event is the Mickey's Merry Christmas Party. Did that one is December 2005. FUN! Now we will be able to get into the park early about 5 pm and stay til midnight.

Yes, we did bring costumes for all of us to wear. Howard is Captain Jack Sparrow, I am Minnie Mouse, Megan is Mitchie from Camp Rock movie or a witch Minnie and Allison is Pocohontas. Made for Monday

Today's card was made over my weekend trip to Mississippi. I saw this card on someone else's blog and had to case it! I am having a hard time with that new Tangerine Tango. I am just not an orange lover. Truely, I do not think I own one piece of orange clothing. Really rust, yes but nothing brighter than that.

I used Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White cardstock. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the swiss dots on the white. I used Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango and Summer Sun for ink pads. We stamped the Pick a Petal flower petals and then watercolored the ink on them. Cut them out and placed on card. I used the Wow Flowers Stamp set Thank you and Small oval and large oval punches to make the sentiment.

I really love these two colors together and want to make more of this same layout using different colors.

So we are at Magic Kingdom today! I always walk in to the park and go under the tunnel to see the most amazing site! I think of this quote from a fellow Disney fan....As I take in Cinderella's Castle - a gateway to a land where cares are banished, joy is instilled and childhood is forever reborn, I hear every time, in my imagination, the words, "To all who come to this happy place, welcome" (It is printed out and on the top of my computer)

Festive Friday

Festive Friday Share! Here are some of the great Halloween swaps I received on Saturday's Starz meeting. Everyone did a great job! Ellen did the cute little Pumpkin card. Pat Crown did the Sock Monkey card. Wendy Randall did the Haunted house card. I wish I could tell whoever did the Boo card and the Candy Corn card, but they did not put their names on them. Last Monika Davis did the Smores treat bag! That is awesome! Have to make those for school Halloween treats!

Disney Tip Thursday

I am in the middle of packing for our trip, so I thought I would cover...things to not forget for your trip. I use this list from Allears.net and then updated it to fit our needs.

Address book and stamps, so you can send out postcards to friends and family at home. Include e-mail addresses so you can send virtual postcards from Innoventions in Epcot Anti-bacterial lotion - This was a must before all meals when we couldn't get to water. Pack an Autograph book and a fat pen (so the characters can hold it) Backpack or Tote bag- to store cameras, ponchos, snacks, etc. in. Band-Aids , Kleenex, Aspirin!!! Bathing suits Batteries - or rechargeable batteries with charger Beach Towels - For the water parks. Disney resorts provide towels for the pools. Beach Shoes - those rubber-soled stretchy neon shoes, for walking to the pool, or at one of the water parks, no need to go barefoot and stub your toes. Bottled Water - if you're driving and can throw a case in the car it makes it that much easier to grab some water on your way out each day. Bottle of wine and the opener! Howard's must have on trip! Disposable Camera and digital camera with large SD card - Megan is taking pictures of Epcot countries for her World Club at school. Cell phones with charger Contact lenses - make sure you bring *both* a spare set and your glasses. Cooler - a soft, collapsible one to tote sandwiches and drinks to the water parks (not allowed in main parks) Fanny pack for you - I bought a new system at www.stitchpaint.com in Crazy Daisy. I got the wallet, cellphone pouch, key holder, belt and water bottle holder! Small Flashlight - for reading maps in dark waits Gum - If you like to chew it, buy it in advance; you won't find any for sale on Disney property Hats - straw, baseball whatever...something to bounce the sun off! Insect repellant and Sunscreen - adults and kids Lip Stuff - like Blistex or Chapstick - with sunscreen! Permanent Markers Nail clippers and file, tweezers, Q-tips Needle and thread Portable DVD player and DVD movies - For the long trip there or late at night to get to sleep or for a raining moment and stuck in hotel. Rain Poncho and Umbrellas- So you can still go around the park even while raining. Sensible shoes -- Comfy, well-broken in shoes are essential. This isn't the time to try a new pair of shoes. If you must get new shoes for your trip, be sure to break them in well before you depart for Florida. Swimming goggles Sunglasses Tickets (or reservation numbers) - Parks, airline, hotel, car rental or meals confirmation numbers Ziploc Bags - I always find a use for these. Buy a large bag of snacks and fill/refill snack bags each bag.

Money Fairy - Would that not be nice? I need her now! My transmission in my van is being replaced today. Nothing like last minute before vacation!

Sharing another great idea! A desktop calendar!I made this last year at Wendy's and needed to update for next year. This is a card 4.25 x 5.5 and fit into a standard envelope to be mailed. It sits on its own with the help of a piece of paper in between to hold together. Here I show you all four sides of the calendar, so you can flip to whatever side the month/season it is. Basic Gray cardstock is the base. I used the retired Perennial Favorites stamp set. Then using whatever seasonal paper you have to do the backgrounds. 1 3/8" square punch to cut out stamped image and mini calendars. Disney Tip Tuesday

Do you know about Disney's Photopass? So you walk into the Magic Kingdom and immediately you are asked if you would like a photo taken in front of the castle. SAY YES! No worries, it is all free (right then). Then the photographer gives you a card that will have your picture on it and you can later go and look at them at the town hall service center or whatever. But do not stop there! Everytime you see a Disney photographer anywhere in the parks that day or the rest of your days in the parks on your trip, use that card to have ALL your pictures put on it. TIP : Put you last name on the card with a sharpie pen in case you lose it or the photographer mixed your up with someone else. And no you do not have to view them that day. Actually you can wait to view them til you get home from your trip! Then you have to sign up on Disney's photopass.com and you have 30 days to view them, email them to family and friends, and purchase them. Now I have used Photopass for each trip and bought individual pictures until this last trip in November 2007. I decided to try, make and buy an album. It was so easy! Better yet was that I could download to the website, my own photos to put in the album and use their photos too. It cost 69.95 but so worth it! I did not have to scrapbook it (although I did add some elements to the album to add some scrapbooking qualities)! Good Morning! Sorry I am late today.

I wanted to share with you three projects that I did at my upline Wendy's house on Saturday night. We had so much fun!

First is a pillow treat box made from the new Big Shot. Super easy and much smaller than we all thought when you see it on paper. Measures only 2 x 3 but would fit a single mini Milky Way or Snickers candy bar. Colors used are Pumpkin Pie, Black and Elegant Eggplant with the new stamp set called House of Haunts and Haunting jumbo roller. Second, we made this lovely card using the box of pastels and a poppin pastels technique. Just stamp the Upsy Daisy image with Versamark ink, now take a cotton ball and rub onto the Old Olive pastel and then a little in the Garden Green pastel and rub on a few random areas, set cotton ball aside. With a new cotton ball rub onto the Brocade Blue, Ballet Blue pastels and then just a little on the Taken with Teal and rub onto your Versamarked image one a few random areas that are not covered with green. After you get those as dark as you want go back over everything with the greens and fill in the whole design. Use the slit punch and tucked the image piece into the slit and glue dot a button on top. Colors are Baha Breeze and Kiwi Kiss. Last, we made this 6 x 6 scrapbook page. Wendy had us using the Big Shot and cutting out ABCD in all kinds of materials. One was chipboard, so we took the negative and added it to our page. Colors are Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip. Stamps used are from Flight of the Butterfly. I need to put a picture of Allison in the larger rectangle.(notice that I ran out of room on her name but oh well) I thought this would be cute to frame too. Have a magical day! Cindy

Festive Friday

Festive Friday goes Halloween this week! I needed to make Halloween swaps for my Starz meeting on Saturday night and I came up with this. I do not have any new Halloween stamp sets, so I had to go in search of something...with pumpkins at least. Placing SU order soon to get the Batty for You stamp set! I created this card using Black, Lovely Lilac, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White cardstock. I used the new scallop edge punch for the black scallop edges and then used white gel pen to make the dots. I stamped the pumpkins in Staz On Black with Lovely Lilac and Tangerine Tango using the blender pen technique. The stamp sets are Thankful Thoughts and Everyday Flexible Phrases. I finished it off with black gingham ribbon in a false knot. Pretty cute and simple, huh? I will be swapping these for others on Wendy's downline SU team. It will be neat to see what Halloween cards they all come up with. So many creative ladies on Wendy's team. I will have to post all my swaps I get during next week. ***Crossing my fingers, cause I might be able to go to the 40th Annual Yellow Daisy Festival at St. Mountain Park this weekend! Disney Tip Thursday

So on our way to Mississippi this past weekend, I realized that I had not looked at our ADR's and somewhat a schedule for our trip to WDW in just 10 days from now! I follow the same schedule layout each trip and then save them on my Vacations folder in Word. It helps me to go back and look at our trips when I am scrapbooking them as well as plan future trips of what we did and missed. I do print this out and bring with me cause I also put our confirmation #'s and times of ADR's. We do not always follow this schedule that I have planned cause things come up like a tummy ache/cold or weather or crowds OR a mental mommy/daddy breakdown! Here is a sample of our upcoming trip. Lots of park hopping this time so I hope we survive! Our September trip: Sunday : Check in 3pm at Saratoga Springs Resort - Dinner at Turf Club Bar and Grill at SSR and Downtown Disney Monday : Lunch at Grand Floridian Cafe with Whalen Family - Magic Kingdom Park til close Tuesday : Pool time/lunch at SSR - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom from 5pm til 11pm Wednesday : Hollywood Studios Park with lunch at Sci Fi Diner - Animal Kingdom at night til close Thursday : Blizzard Beach Water Park - Dinner at Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian with Wishes Fireworks Friday : Donald's Safari Breakfast at Animal Kingdom - Epcot Park at night with the Whalens joining us for dinner at San Angel Inn in Mexico Saturday : Check out and shopping at Downtown Disney Store before heading home So this time, we are going to all four parks. We missed Animal Kingdom in November 2007. And for the first time, we are doing a water park there. I will pray for no rain or better yet NO HURRICANE!!! Have a magical day! Cindy

Wacky Wednesday

These are post it note holders. Some are 4x6 and the smaller ones are 4x4. Easy to make really. Just take a coaster or heavy chipboard (I even used bar coasters from Taco Mac!) and cover with designer paper on front and back using double side tape on the very edge. I sanded the edges down and sponged with matching ink. Then take small 1.25 x 1.5 piece of paper and cover all three sides of the binder clip. Add two pieces of matching ribbon to binder clip and you are done. Click on pictures to see the different papers used. I have made all these and more for my craft shows. Over the weekend, we made one with a school theme paper. Great teacher's gift! You could make some too! Give it a try and let me know if you do! Disney Tip Tuesday

If you ever are in Downtown Disney shops and restaurants area at WDW, then you wanted to go into the Art of Disney store. It attaches to a scrapbook/note/frame part of a store. There is a board behind the checkout register with a list of states that guests have come in that day. If you are there at the right time and pick the state NOT on the list, then you will be... GUEST OF THE DAY! Megan did as you see in the picture. (it was Hawaii) She got a special Disney pen and magical certificate and her picture taken which they put in a big book and save throughout the years. Very cool! She was so thrilled and it made her day! PFN: Megan is really loving school this year. She tried out and made Chorus. Then she was voted by her class for Student Council! She is breaking out of her shy shell. So proud of her! Tomorrow is picture day at school! No doubt I will have to get up much earlier to straighten the girls' hair. And then fighting over the picture background color with them. They say BLUE or RED... and I say GRAY! I made so many cute and fun projects over the weekend visit with Maureen and her friend, Michelle. (THANKS LADIES!) I have lots to show you over the next few weeks! Taking pictures of it all tonight. Happy Labor Day to all! Are you enjoying your day off? I am...well maybe since we are driving home today.
