Who knew scrapbooking was so much fun?

I went on a scrapbooking weekend with some of my scrappin friends that I see once a year or so. This year I was NOT prepared with printed photos but so wanted to get back to doing some traditional scrapbooking pages. So my goal was to make the pages and then add the photos to them later. It was so liberating to play with real material! I found some layouts on Pinterest and just went to town! (I got some digital pages done too!)
Here is one that I used the Salebration DSP called Everyday Elegance. It is one 12x12 cut into 1" strips, torn on the edges and sponged on the edges. Then I cut a bunch of butterflies, hearts and flowers in dsp or cardstock. I added them with small glue dots to the Hemp Twine. I can not wait to get some pictures of my girls on this page.
I will share some more of the pages this week with you.
Thanks for stopping by!

MDS Blog Hop - Sketch Challenge

Another sketch (see below) this week for the challenge. Love these! This one came together pretty quickly because I had this wonderful moment in Megan's life to capture on a page. I used the color theme of Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Daffodil Delight with Whisper White. I just filled the square punches with SEVERAL different Designer Series paper like Noteworthy, Everyday Enchantment, and Savor the Season for example. The embellishments are also from You're My Sunshine, Get It Done and Fresh Flowers Calendar.
Getting some more pages done in Megan's book! WOOHOO!
Thanks Amber for selecting this sketch!

I love you MORE!

Let me just say this...I am in AWE! Heather Summers' online MDS class ROCKS! She taught us this very cool technique last week and I immediately went to MDS and gave it a try. It was a lot of work but SO WORTH IT! Am I right?
I originally thought of a dance picture of Megan's first dance recital but when I saw this picture of Howard and the girls....I fell hook line and sinker for it. I thought the colors was fit for this "daddy of girls" too. You can still see the cute faces of the girls but the focus is on the man who started this "I love you more" bit.
Come join me at Heather's MDS class!
Have a magical day!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Mothers/Grandmothers

This week's challenge was Mother/Grandmother. And while working on some more pages for my daughter's books, I ran across this photo of us 3 generations of girls. This is back from 2007 when we went to special Mother's Day performance. The layout is a case from a real page created by Melissa Huie. I love her style and the multi layers she does. So I wanted to try it in digital form.
I used an oldie but a goodie designer series paper pack called Urban Oasis. I did tone down the background chervon pattern by changing the opacity to 50%. Made it softer. I think the colors in the page compliments the colors in the photo well with all the greens, blues, browns and creams.
See that font on Mother's Day? It is from Heather's digital online class. We are having a blast learning and being challenge over there. I am knocking pages out for my books left and right. I highly recommend it!
Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think about this dandy little page.

Sketch Challenge page #2 - Love to Dance

Welcome back! Here is the second page that I did from the MDS Blog Hop Challenge on Friday's post. It was simple to create. I imported the "smile" page into Megan's album first. It copies the page to her album without taking it away from Allison's album. Then all I had to was change the pictures first. Since the background I picked was busy with all that diagonal LOVE dsp (opacity is at 50%), I had to add a photo box punch behind the title and I stretched it to the top as well. The colors are inspired from Megan's outfit - Rich Razzleberry, Basic Gray, Pretty in Pink and Blushing Bride. Font is still Another Typewriter and "love" from the Walk in the Park II stamp. If you click on the page, it will enlarge so you can see the details better.
I remember how excited she was to go to her first dance. She was only in the 1st grade but it was a BIG DEAL. Her outfit was copied from Sharpay's look on the original High School Musical. Her date was her Daddy and I remember he said it was boys on one side and girls on the other the whole night.  She might be mad at me for sharing this since she is now 14! LOL
Thanks for stopping back by!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Sketch Challenge

Mandy picked this awesome sketch for our challenge this week. I (heart) it SO MUCH! I even made two pages with it! This is the first one that I did. I started the process by putting the basic layers on the 12x12 page. Then searched for some photos. I am working slowly on both of my daughters' albums. These remind me of how Allison would do that silly smile for pictures at this age. You can see that I tried to mimic the smile with her too. This is also was when she let me for the first time do her hair in piggy tails.
After I put the photos in and added the Downtown Grunge frames, I used the New Heights Kit, First Edition DSP, Get it Done stamp & image, Twitterpated background 2 stamp and Walk in the Park II stamp for the title. The font is called Another Typewriter.  I "match color" the background color to the frames so it is a little softer than Very Vanilla.

This page just makes me laugh and puts a big SMILE on my face.
Hope it does the same for you today!
Check back Monday for the second page that I made with this sketch!

I am excited to see what everyone else designed.

Easter Finished

Here is the Easter page from Friday's Blog Hop post all completed. And true to my word, I did make some changes to the page. Once the picture was placed in the photo box that darn cute bunny just did not look good there on layered on the photo. So I shrinked him down and placed him on the top next to the title. I changed some of the flowers to Melon Mambo which matches Alli's dress. I also added the Blushing Bride pleated ribbon.  I had to make a "white out" on part of the ribbon with a square punch filled with the same striped Whisper White dsp. You know "white out"? That is the correction fluid that you used on typewriter and when writing in pen. That is just my new term in MDS. Heehee!
Overall I love how it turned out and it will be a nice page right next to my April 2012 album page that I have in the works right now.
Have a great day!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Easter

One of the most favorite things I love about this Blog Hop and MDS is that it helps me to get ready in advance for scraping special events. Like today for instance, our challenge was Easter. Now I would do an Easter page say next week, but it was great to get ahead start. And with MDS, I have my basic designed page but I might change the colors once the photo gets put in it. It depends on what my girls are wearing that day.  A teenager and preteen - you never know!
I wanted a simple clean page for this Easter. I used the decorative label punch filled with whisper white striped dsp with a Lucky Limeade mat for my background layer. Then added the flower from Mixed Bunch in Blushing Bride and Lucky Limeade in different sizes. Still love that Chocolate Bunny as we love the real thing too!
Now to take a photo on Sunday and add to this page and DONE!
Maybe change the colors but maybe not.
I will have to update this post when it is done.

Thanks for stopping by on this Good Friday.
May the miracle of Easter bring you renewed faith, hope and happiness.
