Festive Friday in July!

Christmas in July! The last day of July but still July! I saw this cute idea on Splitcoaststampers and had to case it! Maureen and I made this card together and it was so fun to create. I love how it looks like the snowman pieces are floating in the globe!
This retired stamp set is one of my all time favorites! It is called Cold Play. Colors are Ballet Blue, Bashful Blue and Real Red. The circle is 3 3/8" diameter. The bottom of the globe is 2 x 3 3/8" then corner round on the top corners. We put them together and then added the ribbon before placing of the card. I might add some glitter in the globe part later.

Today is Megan's open house at MIDDLE school! We will get to meet her teachers and get the low down of what this year will hold for our tween. OY!

Have a magical day!

Top Note Thursday

This cute "purse" was created by me and Maureen. We used the Top Note Die Cut on my Cuttlebug to make the sides of the purse. Then using my Circle cutter, we made the top flap of the purse. I found this idea on Becky Roberts' Inking Idaho and she has a tutorial how to make it. See here: http://inkingidaho.blogspot.com/2009/03/top-note-purse-instructions.html Her site is having issues so check back later on how to make it. We used Whisper White, Certainly Celery Salebration paper, and Regal Rose in the five point flower punch and ribbon handle. The other non SU flower was punched in Pretty in Pink. Finishing it off with a pink gingham button brad that Maureen had in her stock pile of brads. Megan had a birthday sleepover Party recently and we got a necklace and earrings set for the friend that fit into the purse. I also made a matching card. Great gift for girls! Have a magical day! Cindy Today is Allison's meet and greet at school. We will find out who her teacher is for 2nd grade! She is not happy about going back to school at this minute. That will change once we get there and sees all her friends again.

Wacky Wednesday

Here is another project my friend Maureen and I did together. I got this idea from UStamp and we made our own designer paper with the new Circle Circus stamp set. We had such fun playing with the new colors and making patterns with the different circles. We could not stop!
Some call this idea the One Page Wonder. You take a 8.5 x 11 sheet of white paper and stamp your own paper with stamps. Then cutting it in a certain way, you can make all this! We used the new Teeny Wishes stamp set and the Modern Label punch to finish them off. The colors here are Soft Suede, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie. We made some matching envelope as well. Maureen's color combo was Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede. Wish I had taken a picture of her completed set.
Complete gift for someone special!
Have a magical day!

Top Tuesday

So during our holiday weekend in Mississippi, my friend Maureen and I made lots of projects. Here is our July 4th card that we made together. This Uncle Sam is the cutest! I found this on another stampin blog that I now can not find where. Sorry to who ever you are out there! This punch character is easy as apple pie to make. White hair/beard is scallop circle punch, face and nose is 1 3/8" and 1/4" circle punch in Blush Blossum, Navy blue rim of hat is word window punch, hat is white 1 1/4" square punch cut into several pieces and glued on top of red full square, and finally the star punch of More Mustard. I hand drew the eyes and mouth and added some pink pirouette sponged cheeks. Colors are textured real red, whisper white and kraft, the blue is another brand textured blue since we were out of SU Brillant Blue. Our 4th was great with our friends! The 5 girls presented a musical dance show, then we went to their YMCA for pizza, swimming, movie and fireworks. Besides Megan jamming her nose on the bottom of the pool, it was a super 4th! (she was fine just badly bruised) Have a magical day! Cindy

Made for Monday

I am playing catch up this week on some items and cards that I made last month. This is the Father's Day card that I made for my Dad. He just was back from a 2 week motorcycle ride to the Midwest/Plains area and back. I found the motorcycle with a blue tank and thought that I needed to change it. So I pulled the tank off the dimensional sticker and traced it and replaced it with the orange one. (My Dad has also a burnt orange 2001 Plymouth Prowler, so the Dusty Durango is his favorite)
Then I made this frame for him. Found the dimensional stickers at Micheals and just placed them on the black frame. These are the guys on the ride in front of the snow peaks in Wyoming. From left to right: Tommy, my Uncle Steve, My Dad and Ron. The Wild Hogs!

For you Friday

This was my card for the Starz meeting card swap. I was inspired my this card here: http://sweetpapertreats.wordpress.com/2009/07/07/makeover-monday-on-tuesday/ Brenda Weaver did this project which I found such a great idea! I had some acetate window sheets that I could not decide what to do with. I cased this from her 3rd card in the post. I cut the butterfly from the die cut and then ran thru the Cuttlebug with swiss dots. Colors are Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede and Kiwi Kiss. The stamp sets are Baroque and Thank you Kindly. The butterfly is added with dimensionals after I added the pewter brads to the center of the butterfly. I hope you like it! Have a magical day! Cindy Happy Anniversary to my husband of 16 years! Heading to the Melting Pot tonight for a quiet dinner for two. Yeah!

Thursday Swaps

One of my favorite things of our Starz meeting nights is CARD SWAPPING! You can get some many great ideas on card from other talented demos! These ladies are so talented! This is Wendy's card using the Level 3 Hostess set called The More the Merrier. This is just one of three cards she made with this set and using the same layout for each. Perfect hostess set to give at the workshop! Love it! I cased the idea and created my own...show you another time. This is Monika's card. She used the new Butterfly punch with the new colors, new yummy ribbon and new paper. Great simple layout as well!
She used the Season of Friendship stamp set which made it from the mini to the catty! YEAH! Great Christmas card to make many of...do you see the glitter on the snowflakes? GLITTER!!!
This is Michelle's card. She used a great color combo of Certainly Celery, Soft Suede and Dusty Durango. This is the Great Friend stamp set (fav). But wait, see below.....
When you open the card, this is the inside of the card. AWESOME! It springs! You take a 1 3/4" circle punch in vellum and make a handcut spiral to the center. Then using glue dots, add your images. Check out the card Monika made as well: http://monikastamp.wordpress.com/2009/07/16/just-tennis/
I really enjoy the swapping and look forward to creating new cards to share with my stamping friends the next time!
Have a magical day!

Wacky Wednesday

My upline Wendy did this the last summer when our new in-colors came out. It was so fun to do! This time she created this cute holder so we could make the combos and then reference back to them for inspiration. These are made with the 1.2" circle punch in the 48 colors and the 6 new in-colors. Then you just start playing with the colors next to each other. You could do combo of 3 like I did or you could even do 4. Here are some of my favorite combos: Soft Suede, Real Red and Kraft Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence and Old Olive Soft Suede, Dusty Durango and Bermuda Bay Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Black and Pumpkin Pie Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray,White and Black I could play all day with this! Now to just create some cards using this and it would be mission accomplished! Have a magical day! Cindy

Treat Tuesday

If you want to have some SERIOUS fun making a treat box....you have to try this one! Wendy saw this on the SU! website and wanted us to try to make one. It is SO MUCH FUN to make even if the first time making this is tricky. Once you get it, then it is easy to make more. ALL that holds this box together is a strip of sticky strip to form the box. The two ends are PULLED, PUSHED, TWISTED, and SMOOSHED to close. NO adhesive.
Cut a piece of cardstock 6 3/8" x 5 1/2". Score on the 6 3/8" side every 1 1/2" and on the 5 1/2" side 1 1/2" on each side. Then score diagonal and slits. Finally, punch 1/2" circle on the hole. (tip, make your folds first) Then you need to pull, push, twist and smoosh the ends. The ends should hold on it own but you could add ribbon thru the holes to add to the treat twist box.

Looks like too much to make on your own? Would you love to make a bunch of these for a Halloween treats? Let me know and we can have a workshop for you and your friends! If interested, email me at nutmeg1197@aol.com.
Have a magical day!

Made for Monday

On July 11th, I went to my upline Wendy's house again for her downline Starz meeting. I was so looking forward to going and learning and chatting about the new catalog. I enjoy these evenings at Wendy's so much! Even with a headache (thanks Wendy for the spearmint oil tip) I went cause I knew I needed this night out. Here are the things that Wendy had for us to make this time. A new color combo holder, a bookmark, halloween treat roll and the new "Look at This" die cut. I loved learning how to make or create each one of these. I will cover this week some of these in more details and do a tutorial later on that cute bookmark. This is the inside of the "Look at This" card. This was such a challenge to make this card and it is something I would never do at a class because it is complicated to put together. Just not my style, I am a simple girl! See you tomorrow! Have a magical day! Cindy

More Expo Favs!

I saw this from the Creative Memories booth and I soooo want this! It is a frame with a magnetic board. It comes with the ribbon hanger and matching magnets. You can get it in White, Black or Brown. I think she said it was around $52.00. IDEA- You can display your 12x12 scrapbook page of the month on it and when you make a new one, you put the old one in a scrapbook. This would work so well with the monthly scrapbook pages I have been doing of my family.
This Disney page is using the latest craze of felt borders. You can find them here: http://www.queenandcompany.com/index.htm Kim bought the Disney felt borders and Disney buttons to make this page. I love the layout of the page too.
This July 4th page is from The Rusty Pickle. (love the name) Kim bought the star background paper to creat this page. I did buy some other July 4th papers and sayings to create a mini scrapbook of our trip this July 4th to Mississippi. Show you that when I get it done.
Very glad I went to the Expo over all....be back next year!
Have a magical day!

Expo Favs!

Going to the Scrapbooking Expo opened my eyes to just more than the Stampin Up world. Just like when I went to the scrapbooking weekend in March, I learned about the Cricut and Xyron. I really loved these creations from KellerCreations for scrapbooking. See here: http://www.acidfree.com/ I like their layouts and had some very creative projects that can be seen here as well as their website. Like this fold out tag card above. It holds two photos and a gift card. Great idea to send to someone for the holidays. My friends and I bought white and red tags and split them. It was a buy one get one half off. I just love this snowman hanger! I will have to make him for sure! I also got a special deal on a package she had for $15.00 which contained several pieces, scrapbooking paper and $10.00 off their online store! YEAH ME! Have a magical day! Cindy

Scrapbooking Expo Page

(click on picture to enlarge to see the details clearer) Here is what I created with the bookmark I made at the Archiver's Expo spot and then the journal card made at the Archiver's store. Kim and I bought the matching paper to finish off the scrapbook page of our first Expo trip. My plan was to do a one page layout. However, I wanted to show more pictures so it became two pages instead. To do this, I cut the 12x12 paper in half to put on the two pages and picked a color to compliment the designer paper. That lighter purple is in the paper. The Circus Circle stamp set from Stampin Up reminds me of this paper so I used it in this page. They matched perfectly when done in the same colors. I used Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Elegant Eggplant and Wild Wasibi. The background paper is like a Pale Plum color. I really like how it turned out! Have a magical day! Cindy

More from the Expo!

This is one of the two cards that I selected to enter in the Expo Card Contest. They were being sent to the soldiers over in Iraq to use. I used Summer Sun, Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay for the colors. The center of the flower is from the new Circus Circles stamp set. I cased this layout from Nancy Riley on IStamp. So yesterday, you got to see what I MADE at the expo. Kim and I made part of this at the expo and finished making the journal part background at Archiver's. Then she thought of the idea to buy the paper and finish the scrapbook page with photos from our day at the Expo. So here is the beginning of the project and I will show you tomorrow how it turns out. Have a magical day! Cindy

Sharing my Expo Experience

Sorry I have been MIA, but it is so worth the wait! I have sooooo much to show you over the next few weeks. On Friday, I went with two fabulous scrapbooking friends to the Atlanta Scrapbooking Expo at the Gwinnett Civic Center. It was an OVERLOAD of stamping, scrapbooking, crafts and more. This is Kim, me and Rayna at the end of our 7 hour day at the Expo. This is what we made. Scrapbook pages and cards were all make-n-takes for $5.00 or less/free to make there. This is what I bought there. The Stampin Up ladies there had retired papers and stamps for sale, so I was in heaven to find some of the one I missed out on. Of course, we met at Archiver's so Kim and I HAD to run in and use a coupon they gave us at the expo! Heehee! Have a magical day! Cindy

Thankful Thursday

Here is a goodie bag that I made at the end of the school year. I remembered my sweet SIL Lois had given me a bunch of little bags. This one was the red and kraft gingham bag. Just adorable and sparked this creation! I used Riding Hood Red and Kraft on the Big Shot Top Note die cut. I sponged the edges of the kraft used chocolate chip ink. The bag was cut to 3.5" and then the top note pieces were taped to the sides of the bag. I used the word window punch to make the hole and added 5/8" chocolate chip ribbon. The apple is done with the round tab punch and scallop circle punch for the bite marks. The seeds are hand cut. Added the sentiment Kind Thanks in Chocolate Chip. I made about 20 of these all together. Have a magical day! Cindy

Wacky Wednesday IT IS!

I made so many cards and projects over the weekend that I need some time to photo them and edit the photos before posting here. My friend Maureen and I had a blast creating together. Two creative minds can be dangerous! LOL We oohed and ahhed over the new catalog and 2009-2010- In Colors too! This card showcases the Season of Friendship stamp set from the holiday mini over 6 months ago......guess what? they brought it back in the NEW catalog! I am so happy they did cause I got the set at the last minute and hardy did a thing with it. This set is so versatile and you will be seeing more of it here. As well as the old 2008-2009 In-Colors because I love them. These colors are Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point and Kiwi Kiss with Chocolate Chip. See the striped brad...It is from Target $1 bin. (should be called the "$25 or more load me up spot") Have a magical day! Cindy Happy Birthday Lois! (my sweet sister-in-law)

Thursday

This is another desktop photo frame I created for their Aunts as a Thank you for coming to see our girls's dance recital. I used Basic Gray and Rose Red. The paper is from Urban Garden DSP. I stamped the gray Butterfly with the Embrace Life flowers stamp. Added gray satin ribbon in the middle of the butterfly. Love the colors which were inspired from a UStamp project of Heather's. My girls are growing so fast! Megan looks 14 in this and Allison is such a ham! They did a great job at the recital and we are so proud of them both! Have a magical day! Cindy

Wacky Wednesday

Another card with the Fifth Avenue Florals stamp set! This is a wedding card I made back in May. I used Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa for the ink colored flowers. I used the Top Note DieCut in the center and raised it on diamensionals. The sentiment is from a Salebration stamp set. I made this also as a sample for a wedding invitation. My co-worker's daughter is getting married and I created several cards for her. Wait til you see what we are doing! We have to make 100+ invites/rsvp cards/favors in the month of July for her September wedding! Have a magical day! Cindy
