You Smile, I Smile

Yes, that is a Juston Bieber song! OY! I was prepping for my upline Wendy's meeting at Convention in JUST TWO WEEKS! (I have so much to do before I leave.)  I took a hybrid project that I made from another demo and played with it for a 12x12 page.  I created the page first, added the black and white photo and then added the journal title.  Usually I make a page around the photos so this was different approach to scrapping. The journal title is one that I saw on another stamp company and jotted it down in my notebook to use one day.  It fits my daughter's smile in the photo perfectly. Very pleased with how this turned out.
I used the First Edition designer paper and the stamp set that you can purchase on the MDS downloads.  The black flower image on the background is the stamp image enlarged.  I added the Fabulous Florets stamp image download to this page.  I have been seeing it all around the stamping world used in a softer look than in the Summer Mini Catalog and loving how it looks.  I took a wide oval punch in very vanilla and placed it behind the Tangerine Tango flower so that you could not see the newsprint paper thru it.  Colors are Baha Breeze and Tangerine Tango.  Some other elements used are the dotted scallop punch, antique brads, crochet trim and vintage overlays n the background.
Have a magical day!

What do you do with the MDS print cover page?

When you get individual pages printed thru Stampin Up Printing Services, your FIRST printed page comes on the print cover of the pack like the one above. In my process of getting 2008 and 2009 individual pages printed, I naturally selected the front page of the pack to be the cover page of my album. See below.  I take all the misc pictures and put them on this front page.
I hated wasting those cover pages because they are printed in the same quality paper that SU uses for all the printed pages. I also needed to title the outside of my albums by the year. So I quickly came up with a solution!  I cut just the left side off and layered it on a piece of cardstock with a little sponging of the edges.  I used sticky strip to adhere to the album.
I love how they turned out! Perfecto! Makes those plain album so much better I think!
The colors are the same: Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip with Very Vanilla but they are in a different order and with a different bird or flower for each year. Now to remember to do that when I finish 2010 and 2011 individual pages and get them printed!
Have a MDS day!

For a Teacher

I took a teacher's thank you card that I made last year and spruced it up for this year. I cut the back off the card. I then cut and folded another piece of 4.25x11 just like a basic card. I then scored one of the sides at 2.5" across the middle.  You make the fold and attached your card front to that part. This is how you made an easel card.  To get the card to hold in place, you need to add something to prop it up against. It needs to be popped up a bit.  I added a simple layer and popped it up with dimensionals. I added then to just one end and left the top open to slide the gift card in the slot as you see below.
I love this little trick to change up something you have and make it even better!
Have a magical day!

Father's Day

Due to the busy schedule last week, I realized I had to come up with Father's Day cards. I had seen some post on eighteen25 about Tiny Prints. They make cards with your photos on them. So I went searching for some graphic inspiration.  Truely, I cased them myself on My Digital Studio.  I made two for my husband and two for my Dad. Here they are:

I printed them out myself and added the real button and some linen thread on the photo cards. I added the Baker's Twine and some staples to the#1 Dad card and mount it to Marina Mist cardstock.
Our "adopted college kid" is in the picture with my girls. She texted him just as he was opening the card yesterday. Perfect timing!
We had a great day with both the men in our lives!
Hope you all did the same!

Vacation Bible School Decorations

Here is what I also have been up to for the past two weeks....Vacation Bible School Pandamania! I was in charge of ALL decor this year! With the help of my husband and fellow VBS workers, here is our hard work in a few photos to share. I have to tell you that I did use My Digital Studio on some things too! To see larger, click on the picture to open up.

Did you see the red drapes hanging? Those were a last minute idea and they pack a design punch! I bought 7 red plastic tablecloths from Walmart and draped them on long wrapping paper tubes covered in bamboo wrapping.  We hung them with white string thru the tubes and push pins.  Yes, I cut ALL those characters out of the posters!  I put some on foam core with spray adhesive. The "bridge" is more like a deck that we can use over and over at future VBS programs cause they always seem to have a water theme.  We played the water/tropical music in the background which added a cool effect. My favorite part is the narthex were we put that red screen with plants and rocks and the main sign. Click on the last pic and you can see what craft we did.
If you have any questions, let me know and I will do my best to answer them.
Have a PANDAMANIA day!

In a state of depression...

That has been my mood since June 1st when the Stampin Up Retired Stamp and Accessories List came out. It was the same day that I was going to be in Atlanta at the girls dance recital rehearsal and I took my printed list and SU catalog with me as I would have 3 hours in between to review and mark my catalog. Well, as I started looking and marking with a red "R" I began to get VERY emotionally upset.  Most of them are my most favorite stamp sets!  But I do have hope, some are on My Digital Studio and they NEVER RETIRE!  Here is my heartbreaking list:
Love You Much
A Good Egg
Always
Pun Fun
Eastern Blooms
Great Friend
Pick a Petal
Tart & Tangy
Friends 24-7
However, I HAVE seen the new catalog and I am happy to say that my depression has turned to excitement and joy! I have never seen a better SU catalog layout with so many fresh and new ideas!  I want to case the WHOLE Idea Book and Catalog from front to back! That will have to wait for now, as I am pulling out those retiring and making a few cards with them before I buy some new ones starting July 1st!  Share those when I can.
So here are some blast from the past cards that I made with these wonderful yet retiring stamp sets.

I will be OK. Just get me to July 1st and FAST!
Have a magical day!
