MDS Blog Hop - Crafty MDS hybrid project!

A few months ago, my friend Monika (our guest blogger today) asked me to help her hold a Stamp. Scrap, Create and Escape Retreat at her home. (you can read all about it on her blog - see link below how to get there) Of course, I was all up for it! Duh! She asked me to come up with a MDS project possibly hybrid and crafty to demo to the group of ladies.
So this is what happens at 3am..........
One of the reason why I have a notepad on my bedside table! Ha!
Of course, three hours of searching on Pinterest helps too! :) I have seen these cute quotes on wood blocks in different ways and it inspired me.
I designed it on three 9.25 x 4"postcards. I knew they would need to be heavy duty to be able to Tomboy glue on the wood blocks. Also you will notice that they are smaller then the postcard size. 2x4 wood in actually 3.5" not 4". We had them printed thru SU printing services. I then cut them down to the following three sizes:  4.25 x 3.25 ; 7.25 x 3.25 ; 9.25 x 3.25 and the wood cut at 4.5; 7.5; 9.5.  I found acrylic paint in pool blue and vanilla. I sponged the watered down paint on the wood blocks til I got the color I wanted.
Next was the hybrid part - Fun Flowers die cut with Fancy Fan embossing in Primrose Petals with a Pool Party button and Island Indigo Baker's Twine.  Then a flag framelit cut out of Primrose Petals and finished with left over postcard 1/4" scrap and bitty punch flower/pearl. (this was an add on after the first trial sample)
Here is Leishman sponging her postcards in Crumb Cake. I also showed them how to create the project in MDS and some new features that I used.  Lots of aha's and ooh's. All the ladies loved the project!
What do you think? Love the versatility of MDS! Don't you?
