MDS Blog Hop Friday - Owl Theme

This week's theme was Owls. Where to start designing? Look on MDS2 at the Global Search and type in "owl" and see what comes up and inspires you. That is what I did! Add a little Pinterest inspiration from a scrapbook page and this is what I came up with. A boy's baby name frame!

That cute orange owl from Party Animal Kit just got my attention and had to use him! I was able to make those fake shelves with cropping the Fancy Frame. Recolored the one frame to Marina Mist. Added a banner from the same Party Animal Kit. Used different fonts for all the text boxes with some adjustments on the line spacing and tracking. All the info on the page is false but the picture is from one of my friends.

So I wanted to print this out and put in a frame for ya but ran out of time this week. Here is a sample of what it might look like on a bedroom wall. You get the picture, right? (sorry for the pun LOL) I have been working on lots of MDS home decor projects for a MDS club class. I will be sharing them all next week on my blog and MDS.net when Stampin Up's MDS special week starts! If you like the owl that I used, the download kit called Party Animal will be 50% off from Oct 29th to Nov 5th! PLUS they are giving away FREE DOWNLOADS! Be sure to get yours!
Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you all for leaving comments. They really make my day!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Following Inspiration

This week's challenge was to case or be inspired from the MDS blog hop designer after ourselves in the line up. What my luck that it is the very creative Erica! When I saw this page below at Convention and then her blog and then on MDS.net as a featured page HERE, I knew that I wanted to use that background technique for one of my own pages. You can see her video on how to create the background TUTORIAL HERE.
My page started out so differently with a Pool Party background. One of the reasons to love MDS digital scrapbooking so much! I was able to change over and over again til I was pleased with this version of my page. One thing I did notice is that the Vintage Overlay Texture 11 looks very different in MDS than in the PDF that is showing in this post. It looks more grainy and here it is more blended. The Downtown Grunge frame on the photo idea also was inspired by Erica on this PAGE.

I hope you let this week's challenge inspire you!
Let us know if you do and be sure to add your sample to MDS.net.
Tell them MDS Blog Hop Designers sent you!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Digi Ribbon CRAZY!

That heart of ribbons was a true labor of love!  I started with a heart punch in whisper white as a base. I cropped the ribbons as well as recolored some of it. Once I had it created, I grouped the entire heart.  I created this page for a recent challenge on MDS.net.  No I did not win but did get another honorable mention which is such a HUGE honor.

One of the newest features in MDS2 is importing objects from one project to another project.
A BIG time saver in my case! I love that heart so much I wanted to make a card with it. Why go thru making that heart over again?

Here is how you use this new feature:
Open your new project.
Click on Insert from the top menu bar.
Now select Import from my projects.
Click on the file folder to search for the project that you want to import.
Select the page which you want to import.
Now you can see every object on that page and even see the image of the object.
Once you select it then click on Import.
It will now be on your new project.

Pretty neat huh?  Give it a try!
So here is my lovely little 4 x 9.25 postcard using that heart of ribbon.

MDS Blog Hop - Halloween

We LOVE Halloween in our home and with a Disney theme over the years made it even more fun! Everyone in our neighborhood know our house for the Disney blow up characters in the front yard and Mickey at the front door.  It is a Not So Scary Halloween!

I am so thrilled to share my completed pages from my Halloween book this week! It was alot of fun to make!!! I wanted to stay with a theme layout of rounded corner photos/DSP; keep the background black with overlays; and always have "Happy Halloween" and the year on the page. I want to be able to do the next couple of years and place them in a continuous scrapbook for my coffee table so I bought a clearance black/white zebra 11x8.5 album and recovered it with Stampin UP Polka Dot DSP and some ribbon, etc. I am going to show all of the pages because it was hard to choose just one favorite page. Click on each one to enlarge OR you can also see them on MDS.net here:

These will print as Individual pages thru Stampin UP printing services. And printing prices was just lower permanently making this Halloween Book a bargain to do!!!

So let me know which one is your favorite page! 2000? 2007? 2010?
Thanks for stopping by to view this rather LONG post!
