Merry Christmas Day! Part 2

Off today to see my nieces on Christmas Day!
I simply adored these rather large snowman tags for their gifts. I hope that afterwards they will hang these in their rooms and think of their Aunt Cindy and her love of snowmen!

My friend Monika made these SUPER cute tags on her blog. Go HERE to get the tutorial to make them. I wanted SUPER large tags for my nieces' gifts so I adapted the snowman tag from Monika to My Digital Studio. OPened a 8.5x11 project, then I added a punch circle with a small mat in black and changed to 5.25" diameter. Added a stamp image snowman face and a square punches filled with dsp and sized for the scarf. I put two on the page and printed at home on Whisper White cardstock. Then I cut them out following the mat circle. I added the Full Heart punch for the boots and gloves. The 1 1/4 square punch and word window punch for the hat. Then added the snowflake and hat trim.

Extra special thanks to Monika for the inspiration! I will definitely make more of these!

I hope that you are enjoying this wonderful day!
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve! Part 1

I wanted to share the tags that I created for my nieces and nephews. We see my nephews on Christmas Eve and my nieces on Christmas Day and I love adding a special touch to their gifts.

For my nephews that are at the curious and adventurious age, I wanted a fun creative way to label their gifts.  So their tags are part puzzle, part their initals, part decorations. I used the Savor the Season CD (retired MDS) for the banner template. I added another square by copying and pasting from another completed page then added the Christmas car wth the tree from 12 days of Christmas download and MERRY (which is the combo gift to them). I printed these at home and they measure 4x5. I added a piece of 4.25x5.25 matching cardstock to them for support. Each of my three nephews got 3 of the letters on their gifts. I pre-punch small holes and taped to the gifts. Then they can put the banner puzzle together with some Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine once they solve the word. I figured they can display the banner in their playroom during the holidays.

I hope that you enjoy your holiday! Whether creating some last minute tags, spending time with family and friends, eating lots of food, or rejoicing in His birth!

Orchard Harvest Template Updo!

I just love MDS 2 and all the new features!
The doors are wide open in digital scrapbook designing with it!
Here is one reason why!

I took this adorable Orchard Harvest 11 x 8.5 designer template page and turned it into a 12x12 page.
Follow these steps:
Open a new project and go to Designer Templates.
Find the project in 11x8.5 and go thru the process to open the page.
Go to Edit on your top menu bar.
Select Change Project Size/Type.
Select the project type that you want (I did 12x12 photobook)
Click on replace.
Now the process will start converting your project.

Once finished some of your items will need to be adjusted. I had to copy and paste another row on the background jars to the bottom. I also had to adjust the placement of the images lower on the page. I added my title in the two text spaces with some stamp brush images. Just love the title! The photo was recolored to Crumb Cake.  Perfect page for my creative block! Thanks MDS for the template!

Your turn! Give it a try and then add your sample to MDS.net. Tell them Cindy sent you!

MDS Family Frame

Our MDS Blog Hop is on hiatus thru December now. We will be back in January with some new exciting changes!  I will still be posting some MDS projects thru the month so be sure to check back here often.

My Digital Studio Family Wall Art

My friend and MDS partner Monika (also link to HER BLOG) and I had a lot of fun creating this Hybrid Wall Art Project for our last My Digital Studio Club. I just love mine and so did everyone else in our class!

We made 2.5 x 4.25 tags in MDS and had them printed thru SU. Then we added hybrid elements with various Stampin Up products to completed the frame. We were trying to promote using the Stampin Up printing process and how a variety of ways which you can use MDS print items in your home decor. We showed several finished projects in the class. It was alot of fun!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Have a great day!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Sketch

Rochelle pick a wonderful sketch for this week's challenge. I love a sketch to get the creative juices flowing! I started with the sketch for a Christmas page and it just was not working. Too busy. So I remembered these pictures on my camera, download them and the page just created itself. I got to use some new downloads in a new way. See the supply list below.
Recently we got a new dog. Her name is Annabelle and she is a short haired Border Collie/Whippet. She was very neglected, in a crate for 20 hours of a day and fed once a week. I always said since our beloved Molly died in May 2011 that God will lead the right dog to our home. Well, she is the one. She looks just like our first dog Bailey. She is full of energy which is perfect for Allison and Howard. She loves to be cuddled with which is perfect for Megan and I. She is 18 months old and still in puppy stage with the chewing but she listens to our commands. Her weight is up, hair is growing back and she is not shy nor scared anymore. And most of all - she is LOVED!

Another challenge try on MyDigitalStudio.net this week!  I took the Scrap Map 3 layout from the challenge and tweaked it a bit for my page. I love how it turned out! I love the chevron dsp recolored and that block of dsp that I found with the So Saffron doily in it from Tea Time II.

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Stamp Brushes

When Jeanna put out this challenge to use many stamp brush images. Do you know how scary that thought is? I mean we have punches, TONS of embellishments and designer series papers! So to create a page with ONLY stamp brush images was quite a challenge!
Once I select the photo for the page, I knew I wanted a fall theme. I went right to the stamp brush images called French Foliage. I used each and every stamp brush image from that download on my page. The background stamp brush image is from the Decorative Overlays - Woodgrain. The Title is a brush image cropped and copied twice to change the layout for the title. It is from the stamp brush image called Friendly Words. And well...that it is. No punches, no embellishments and yet a simple and easy page.
So give it a try, select one stamp brush set and create your own page.

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Childhood

This was a fun challenge to do! Thanks Holly! I actually had been working on this page already and so this gave me the inspiration I needed to complete it. The photo boxes filled with the same photo is one of the cool new features in MDS2. You add your photo boxes as you like, group them together and then drag your photo into the group. I added some photos of my favorite childhood places in Ohio. If you are from Ohio then you KNOW Cedar Point well. I am proud to say that I have road the Gemini roller coaster 36 times in a row in one day! I love that ride!
I think my favorite part is the Text on a Path above the image of the state. I made the freeform line follow the shape of the state and then added the text. And of course in true fashion and honor, the colors are Buckeye crimson and gray. Go Bucks!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Here come the Holidays!

Can you believe that Christmas is 7 weeks away? Yep, nuts huh?! So the theme this week is right on track with all that I am doing to get ready for the big day. So much to do! My MDS list is LONG!
But I do have one BIG thing done and checked off my list. Our Family Christmas Card 2012!
I saw this style card on Pinterest and knew I wanted to give it a shot in MDS. I love the look of it and thought our family picture at the beach would be perfect for it. That red frame around the photo is a fun new feature in MDS2. I added an embellishment from the 12 Days of Christmas called Gradient 3. Then go to Crop in the Design Center(right side) and in the center of the Crop Editor you will see "Crop Shape". Here you can select a punch to crop the embellishment into a shape. I select the Convention 2012 curvy square frame punch and then stretched the shape a little. I recolored the stamp image sentiment from Punny Holidays. Key word here "ZOOM +" to get the details in coloring.
I added the individual photos of us on the back after my friend suggested it. Thanks Lisa! She said it needed a photo on the back and I compromised a bit which worked perfectly. I will get these off to the printer next week so that I have time to get them back and mailed out on Dec 1st! I plan to do some of these in 5x7 size and some in 5 x 3.5 size postcards. I took this same project and converted it to a smaller postcard too. You can do that in MDS2! LOVE that feature!

Speaking of features! Be sure to Check your Update on MDS2! They just did the newest update and all 75 features are completely on there!  I just love that retooled Recoloring feature! MUCH easier!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Going in Circles!

Right now, My Digital Studio is having a AWESOME Digital Scrapbooking Week full of free downloads HERE and this special of 50% off digital kits which you can see all of them HERE. Even if you do not have the MDS or MDS2 program, why not go get the FREE downloads? You can use them in other design programs or Photoshop! Now I would highly recommend you get MDS cause you are missing out on all the designing fun!
Here is one of the 50% off digital kits called One Great Year. Love the purples and greens, right? But I wanted to show you how versatile MDS2 program is! With the new feature called Recoloring, that designer series paper and embellishments above can be changed for a totally new look. This makes those 50% digital kits a STEAL! They are like $4.00-5.00 a piece and such a deal.

So here is my Circle Challenge page. Kimberly picked it and I was inspired by her scrapbook pages about herself, so I wanted to do one about ME! I used many of the embellishments from the kit and recolored them to fit my color combo of Blushing Bride, Primrose Petals, Basic Gray, and Summer Starfruit. (thanks to the suggested color combos in the MDS palette). I even imported the taffeta ribbon from another previous project so I did not have to think too much finding that ribbon and recoloring it again. Do you know how to do that?

I hope you like my page and it inspires you to get your FREE downloads
and even purchase a 50% off digital kit or two or ALL of them!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Owl Theme

This week's theme was Owls. Where to start designing? Look on MDS2 at the Global Search and type in "owl" and see what comes up and inspires you. That is what I did! Add a little Pinterest inspiration from a scrapbook page and this is what I came up with. A boy's baby name frame!

That cute orange owl from Party Animal Kit just got my attention and had to use him! I was able to make those fake shelves with cropping the Fancy Frame. Recolored the one frame to Marina Mist. Added a banner from the same Party Animal Kit. Used different fonts for all the text boxes with some adjustments on the line spacing and tracking. All the info on the page is false but the picture is from one of my friends.

So I wanted to print this out and put in a frame for ya but ran out of time this week. Here is a sample of what it might look like on a bedroom wall. You get the picture, right? (sorry for the pun LOL) I have been working on lots of MDS home decor projects for a MDS club class. I will be sharing them all next week on my blog and MDS.net when Stampin Up's MDS special week starts! If you like the owl that I used, the download kit called Party Animal will be 50% off from Oct 29th to Nov 5th! PLUS they are giving away FREE DOWNLOADS! Be sure to get yours!

Thank you all for leaving comments. They really make my day!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Following Inspiration

This week's challenge was to case or be inspired from the MDS blog hop designer after ourselves in the line up. What my luck that it is the very creative Erica! When I saw this page below at Convention and then her blog and then on MDS.net as a featured page HERE, I knew that I wanted to use that background technique for one of my own pages. You can see her video on how to create the background TUTORIAL HERE.
My page started out so differently with a Pool Party background. One of the reasons to love MDS digital scrapbooking so much! I was able to change over and over again til I was pleased with this version of my page. One thing I did notice is that the Vintage Overlay Texture 11 looks very different in MDS than in the PDF that is showing in this post. It looks more grainy and here it is more blended. The Downtown Grunge frame on the photo idea also was inspired by Erica on this PAGE.

I hope you let this week's challenge inspire you!
Let us know if you do and be sure to add your sample to MDS.net.

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Digi Ribbon CRAZY!

That heart of ribbons was a true labor of love!  I started with a heart punch in whisper white as a base. I cropped the ribbons as well as recolored some of it. Once I had it created, I grouped the entire heart.  I created this page for a recent challenge on MDS.net.  No I did not win but did get another honorable mention which is such a HUGE honor.

One of the newest features in MDS2 is importing objects from one project to another project.
A BIG time saver in my case! I love that heart so much I wanted to make a card with it. Why go thru making that heart over again?

Here is how you use this new feature:
Open your new project.
Click on Insert from the top menu bar.
Now select Import from my projects.
Click on the file folder to search for the project that you want to import.
Select the page which you want to import.
Now you can see every object on that page and even see the image of the object.
Once you select it then click on Import.
It will now be on your new project.

Pretty neat huh?  Give it a try!
So here is my lovely little 4 x 9.25 postcard using that heart of ribbon.

MDS Blog Hop - Halloween

We LOVE Halloween in our home and with a Disney theme over the years made it even more fun! Everyone in our neighborhood know our house for the Disney blow up characters in the front yard and Mickey at the front door.  It is a Not So Scary Halloween!

I am so thrilled to share my completed pages from my Halloween book this week! It was alot of fun to make!!! I wanted to stay with a theme layout of rounded corner photos/DSP; keep the background black with overlays; and always have "Happy Halloween" and the year on the page. I want to be able to do the next couple of years and place them in a continuous scrapbook for my coffee table so I bought a clearance black/white zebra 11x8.5 album and recovered it with Stampin UP Polka Dot DSP and some ribbon, etc. I am going to show all of the pages because it was hard to choose just one favorite page. Click on each one to enlarge OR you can also see them on MDS.net here:

These will print as Individual pages thru Stampin UP printing services. And printing prices was just lower permanently making this Halloween Book a bargain to do!!!

So let me know which one is your favorite page! 2000? 2007? 2010?
Thanks for stopping by to view this rather LONG post!

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Pinterest Case!

This week has been such a case of BAD luck week! Fresh back from vacation and one after another MAJOR problem has occurred. I feel overwhelmed and drained. But thru it all, this man stood by my side dealing with each trial together like we always have. So today's page is one that I worked on while we were on vacation when I had my "MDS" playtime and it seems fitting to use it today of all days. I won't go much into details cause I just plainly can not remember cause of my zombie-like status. A do-nothing weekend is in store for me.
I tried to go find the original page on Pinterest and could not find it. I will try later and add here. :(

MDS Blog Hop Friday - Coloring Tool

I actually started this page while I was playing with the new MDS2 features at Convention. Then I came home to redo it on my system and played around some more to get to this. Above is the original page. Then I saw the Sketch challenge last week on MyDigitalStudio.net and knew I could change it to fit the sketch. I did not win but I did get a Honorable Mention and selected as a featured sample on the website. Pretty cool beans! You can see it here: Peace on Earth
I used the NEW MDS2 feature called Coloring Tool on many things. The title is a stamp image that I colored each letter. I really loved that ornament embellishment so I matched the snowflake stamp image with the coloring tool to match them. Here is an example on how I did that:

It is alot like using the Paint program. I highly recommend using the Zoom + or - on this to color in the details. You can also watch this video here:http://mydigitalstudio.net/video/stamp-image-coloring
I also did the title as it was a stamp image that I colored each letter.
I think that this maybe the biggest and best new feature of MDS2! It is SO much fun!
See what you can come up with and post it on MDS.net. I challenge YOU!

MDS Blog Hop Fridays - Card Sketch

As soon as I saw our card sketch challenge HERE, I wanted to make a trifold card. Those to me are a big design challenge.  I started with the flag punches over and over with stretched them out over the entire card. Then I went with a theme of using the Comfort Cafe DSP and remembered that I needed an Anniversary card for my parents soon. I created some fake guidelines so you can see where the folds would be. I recolored the Victoria ribbon to Cajun Craze and the Vintage Brad to Midnight Muse. I also used the cropping tool on the Stamp image sentiment a couple of times to get my stamps images where I wanted them. I will get this ordered today with my last MDS print order as the 31% discount expires TONIGHT.
I just got my first MDS print order back and I am thrilled with my print products. The front and back endsheets were the wrong color on my photobooks but over all, I am so happy!!! I will share some of those printed products with you all soon!

MDS Blog Hop Fridays - Fab FOOD!

Know what I love about MDS2? (really there are TONS that I love) I can go back to an old page made before MDS2 and add NEW and EXCITING details to it using the NEW MDS2 features! On this week's Rochelle challenge of a food related project, I went back to this page because it was perfect for the challenge. I also love that picture of my Alli (a.k.a. Chocolate Monster) when she was little and such a ham.
The background paper on the bottom was created by me! I added a BUNCH of the Made from Scratch embellishments of bowls, spatulas, mixing bowls and Recipe saying in a group and then copy and pasted to create my own designer series paper to this kit.
Ok, so what is new? I added some Freeform stitching in Poppy Parade around the page. I also changed the color in the title because you can do that now in MDS2!
Here is the modified Supply List that you can get in MDS2 too. :)

I made this awhile ago so don't blast me for it. :) I am not sure if I shared this, but I wanted to show it because after waiting and waiting FOREVER, I finally got that download Downtown Grunge Kit. I do not know WHY I waited so long! I LOVE IT! This layout comes with the kit and I thought the grunge look fit my rocker girl. To the point, get this kit if you do not have it! IT ROCKS!

I have way to many favorites but here are the ones that come to my head first:
