Ribbon Storage Solution

I am always looking for storage solutions for my stamping/crafting/scrapbook supplies.  I saw this idea on Ebay or some card magazine but done on a circle board.  I wanted to have it on a shelf of mine so I did it on a longer board.  I went to my local hardware store and bought a 7/16" dolle rod at 48" long and a 1x4x2 piece of board.  I asked my Dad to drill out the holes for the rod equally apart.  Then he inserted the rods which where cut at 12" to make 4.  He used wood glue to make them secure.  Once it dried and was sanded down, done!  I did have to cut some of the holes in the ribbons wider to fit the rods.  I took this to my scrapbook weekend and all loved the idea.
A tip I thought of once I got home was to add binder clips to the top of the rods to hold the ribbons securely on while traveling with it.  Also you will see that I use push pins to hold the ribbon in place once I have opened the ribbon.  I like this better than using tape to hold the ribbon.

Scrapbook Page #3 -Animal Kingdom

Here is a two page layout I did for the Disney's Animal Kingdom for that trip to Disney in 2005.  I used papers and stickers from a Disney scrapbook album.  I will do some journaling with black ink in the green area above the pictures.  I like how the pictures are all together and you can see all that green color together.  The black strip on top matches the black sticker on the bottom to make it balance on the page.

6 scrapbook pages from 6 new friends!

On my scrapbook weekend away, the 6 of us decided to do the same page layout.  Jamie and Kim started it all!  Jamie made her page that she found the layout in a Creating Keepsakes magazine then Kim said that she was making it as well.  So then it began the ball rolling as me and Christine did ours and Rayna did hers.  So on the last day there, Cheryl HAD to make her version before she left.  So here they are!  We used Jamie's CK whatever it is called swirl cutter to cut the wave in the paper.  I love how you journal on the white paper inbetween the waves!  Each one is different and very creative!

Good to Know Photo Tip

Here is a tip that I wanted to share with you all. I did not know this and was glad to learn of it cause that would just end my world to loose all those vacation pictures.

Julie shares: After dinner at Chef Mickey's, my son accidentally deleted all the photos off my memory card that I had taken in the parks the previous three days and our photos from our just completed character dinner (about 400 images). After a few tears and moments of panic, I called my brother who is an amateur photo buff. He advised me there are programs to retrieve the deleted photos, BUT you must NOT take any more photos on that memory card! We purchased a new memory card that night and took the old memory card to a camera store and for about $42 dollars all my photos were retrieved and put on a disk. It was so tempting to run back into Chef Mickey's and snap more pictures of the kids with the characters, but thank goodness I didn't!

Scrapbook Page #2 - Wilderness Lodge

This page was inspired by scrapbook pages found in the Creating Keepsakes magazine.  My friend, Christine, found the page and started to make hers.  As she was doing it, I got that "Ah-ha" moment and HAD to make it as well.  Here is their page that we took the look from.  Christine's trees had oranges in them and pictures from their trip to Florida.  Maybe she will post pictures of her pages on her blog here: ScrapBean  She also has some pictures posted of our Scrapbook Weekend.
And here is my version.  Now this is a work is process because I am missing the journaling and some final touches.  The title has a back story about our Disney trip that I will explain in the jourmaling part.  See we were asked to stay at the Grand Floridian because the Wilderness Lodge was overbooked.  But I had planned out trip around the Wilderness Lodge including transportation and dining, so we begged to stay at the Wilderness Lodge.  And so...we were SO glad we stayed! at the end of our trip that year.  The trees were cut on the Cricut Serenade Cartridge that can only be found when you buy the Cricut Expression. ("wink" - Rayna lol)

Scrapbook Page #1 - Epcot Characters

Over the weekend in between my time of spring cleaning the windows, painting Megan's bedroom, church duties, and a youth meeting...I DID manage to work up the quick layout on My Digital Studio program of my first scrapbok page that I made during my amazing scrapbook weekend away.  I got the idea from Heather Summers on her online MDS class. It was one of my favorite pages that we did.  I changed a few things on my layout to match the page I created.

Here is my version of the layout.  I used 3.5x5 pictures to cut into circle with the Coluzze circle cutter.  You will notice that I adjusted the circles from the layout to fit with my pictures. I still have to finish the journaling in black ink on the white strips of paper.  The dotted paper is from a Mickey Kit that I had and rounded the corner on.  Then I got the Title from a sticker packet given to me by a friend.

Festive Friday

We move right on to EASTER!  Can you believe it is around the corner?  Again, I made this card at Wendy's.  That chocolate bunny has been the hit of the season!  Just like the Dasher reindeer stamp from Christmas.  This card is done like as easel.  This style of card has been all the rage out there in the papercrafting blog world.   I like sending those kinds of cards that someone can display and look at all the time.  To see how to make one, go here:    Tutorials/easelcard  Not as hard as it looks really.  The fence on this card was made with the new jewelry tag punch.  It is SO on my wish list now!
Starting next week, I will show you all that I made at my scrapbook weekend away!  I have 24 Disney pages to share.  Yes, Rayna, I hear you!  They are coming! (love ya)

Technique Thursday

Here is a card that we made at Wendy's during her downline meeting.  It was using the babywipe technique.  One of Wendy's favorite technique to do and it has grown on me too.  You take a bunch of babywipes and apply dots of different colors ink from the reinkers to the top layer of wipes.  Then you use it as a stamp pad on your stamp.  If you click on the picture, you can get a closer look.  See the yellow and greens in the tree and border?   The colors are Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Certainly Celery. You use the slit punch to make the half circle slot.  Another Wendy classic touch to her cards.  LOVE IT!  All the images here can be found in the stamp set called Pendant Park.

GO GREEN! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Go Green!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We made these cute circle St. Patrick's day pins at Wendy's.  You use the circle die cut with the Big Shot and green fabric of all designs.  Then you place four of the circle together with a piece of green tulle and stitch a X in the center.  Then stitch the clear button to the middle.  I stitched a pin clasp on the back with the thread.  Just the perfect amount of green to wear today!  That is if you do not like green unlike me!  I LOVE GREEN!
I made some more of these pins with the fabric to match my rag purse.  Show you them later!  They turned out so sweet!
May luck be with you today!
Have a magical GREEN day!

I am BACKKKKKKK!

Sorry for the long delay but I just spent four fabulous days at a scrap weekend with my friends and came home sick!  Guess those super late nights caught me and gave me a severe head cold!  We went to Kim's gramwa's cabin with Christine, Jamie, Rayna and Cheryl.  We had SO much fun!  I will have plenty to show over the next few weeks cause I made some 24 pages and a three mini scrapbooks!!!!!  Can I get a WOW- WOW!" ?  Most of them are Disney but I used layouts found in magazines and my own layouts.
I wanted to share today this cute notebook holder made at Wendy's downline meeting.  I just love it!  It is made from a manilla folder that Stampin Up sells.  We will be making these at our next scrap day at my home.  You see these all over the blogs right now.  Super easy to make!
I love these colors together - Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede!
And thanks for stopping by! Nearly 1,000 hits on my blog while I was gone!  Thanks to The Weekend Stamper for selecting me for Michelle's card on her Blog Finds of the Day!

My swap!

Here is my swap that I gave at Wendy's downline meeting.  It is a case layout.  I used Soft Suede, Regal Rose and So Saffron.  I die cut the butterflies on the big shot and one of them is textured dots plate.  Then I punched a 3/4" circle punch and made two holes with my crop-a-dile to make it look like a button.  Added some hemp twine to the button. Stamp sets used is Pocket Sillhouettes and Teeny Tiny Wishes.

This is a WOW swap!

Last weekend, I went to my upline's Wendy downline team meeting.  I always enjoy going to the meeting and seeing fellow teammates.  There are some VERY talented ladies on the team!  Running out the door very late that night, I grabbed the swaps and really did not have a chance to look at each of them.  Then I got home and crashed into bed.  The next morning, I finally sat down with breakfast in hand and viewed the swaps that I had received and I was blown away!  I even chokes on my bagel!  I will share just two of them today.  Our theme for the swap was Springtime!

First is Michelle Scileppi.  Just look at this!  I was in shock at how much she puts into her swaps!  It makes me honored to get one.  She also included a printed sheet of the directions on how to make this gem!  She does not have a blog which is a bummer.  She went back to school recently and has no spare time.  So you will just have to see her creations thru me for now.

Next is my upline Wendy Randall.  What can I say about Wendy....amazing leader and good friend!  You can see her blog here: thestamper   She did the latest trend of circle flowers that is going around.  I love the paper she used -  Cottage Wall and the springy colors of Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Pale Plum.  I really thought it was neat how she used a circle to create the leaf.  It is folded in the middle to create an oval leaf.

Finally got something to show you! Belated Birthday...

Remember this?  I started using this scrapbook layout from Jill on her website here:  Jill's little about me pages  I used black, melon mambo, green galore, bermuda bay and summer sun.  The "strips" are 3.5 x 11 and corner rounded then placed on 12 x 12 white scrapbook pages.  I added bermuda bay and melon mambo dotted ribbon.  I wanted to create birthday pages in honor of my BIG birthday recently.
And here is how it turned out!  I used the Big Deal alphabet in the colors to make the title. I copied the 40 numbers on white and cut them out.  The journaling is done with simple white strips and punch edges.  The summer sun tab is on a list of 40 words to describe me given to me by my mom.  I made the photo of us a pocket so that it holds the folded list.  I also corner rounded the corners of the photos.
I like how it turned out and I love this layout as well!  I will use it again.
Have a magical day and I will be back tomorrow!

Give a Day, Get a Disney Day

3-9-10 Update!  Disney will stop this program once they hit 1 million tickets given out!  We were told that they are VERY close to that so if you want your FREE ticket, better get on the website and schedule your day TODAY!

I wanted to share our volunteer day that we are doing as a family to get a day tickets to DisneyWorld.  Disney's new promotion this year is super idea and whoever came up with it at the Disney big wigs are genius!  They are getting closer to ONE MILLION volunteers already! It is 3 simple steps and all the details can be found here:    Give-A-Day-Get-A-Disney-Day    ***You must pre-register and sign up through this site to volunteer and complete your service at an eligible volunteer opportunity in the fifty United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or Canada to receive a ticket after verification of such service. Ticket quantities for this program are limited. You must be at least 18 to sign up. You may only sign up a maximum of 8 members of your household. Children must be at least 6 to participate in the program. One ticket per person, regardless of the number of times you volunteer. Program begins January 1, 2010 and continues until tickets are distributed or until December 15, 2010, whichever occurs first. Your voucher for a free ticket must be redeemed by December 15, 2010, and used on the same day of redemption.***

THE PROCESS
Step One :  Search and Sign up
You enter your zip code and then a list of local organizations thru Hand Ons Network come up with selected volunteer options.  You can pick from cleaning up, clothes sorting, serving lunch, donate bed sheets, blood drives to collecting pop can tabs!  If you are wanting a ticket for a child, watch the age limit on the selections.  Then you select the option and follow the details.  We emailed the organization and they got back to us within 24 hours.  I picked a date and time to drop off the kits and emailed her back. Then I finished the sign in process on the website and added our volunteer date and time.  You will have to create an account name and password on the website.
We selected to do donation of items to create Kitchen Kits for families that need basic kitchen needs.  To get four tickets, we had to make 5 kits.  Now these kits cost us $120 total for new items but we could have also collected used items.  Working for a restaurant wholesale co, I got the advantage on this.  Tickets for our family of four to go to Disney for one day = $324.84  so we are saving $200!  WOW!

Step Two : Volunteer
We are going on a Saturday to the warehouse in Atlanta to drop off our 5 Kits and tour the warehouse and see what they do there to help the community.  We will bring the girls so they understand why they need these things and how they help our community.  After our drop off date, the organization notifies Disney that we have completed our volunteer day.  Please allow up to 2 weeks for email verification for your activity from Disney.

Step Three :  Redeem and Celebrate!
Once the organization confirms that you did indeed volunteer your time then Disney emails you a voucher for a DisneyWorld or DisneyLand One Day One Park ticket for each member of your family.  To redeem your ticket at a Walt Disney World® or Disneyland® theme park, you must bring a valid photo ID along with your voucher. Valid ID is one of the following: valid Government Issued Passport, valid Driver's License including a photo, or valid Government Issued Photo ID. For children under 18 who do not have any of the previous listed IDs, a copy of a Birth Certificate is acceptable. School IDs or children security IDs are not deemed Government Issued Photo IDs and will not be accepted. Please note: the Guest whose name is on the voucher must be present at the time of ticket redemption (for example, parents cannot redeem tickets for their children in their absence.)  Remember the ticket can only be used for that day!

So sign up today and volunteer!  Even if you do not have plans to go to Disney this year, you can donate your ticket to the Boys and Girls Club of America so that some child can go to the most magical place on Earth!  Volunteering is also so rewarding and so good for your heart!  It can lift your spirits!

We will be using our tickets on our September trip to Disney/Vero Beach this year!  Can not wait!  Just have to decide which park to visit for that trip.  My BIL and SIL did the Disney for a Day program too!  They did the bed sheets donation and they will be using their tickets for my nephews' FIRST DisneyWorld visit soon!  I hope they have a great time!  :)

Have a magical day!
