Last Day of School Friday

Can I just say that I am in shock that it is the last day of school? This is Megan's last day at WES as she will be heading to middle school in August. Allison moves on to 2nd grade without having her sister there. I am sure Megan will be a wreck this afternoon off the bus. Me too.
Here is another desktop display that I made during the wonderful UStamp Spring class! It matches the card set I made with retired rub-ons. I will show next week. It was my first adventure using rub-ons and they are soooo easy! I am hooked! I had some rub-ons left and used them to make this. I loved the idea of putting them on the smaller butterfly for a extra special touch. The colors are kraft, black and baha breeze with black gingham ribbon. This one is horizontal than on Wednesday post which is vertical.
I hope you have noticed my photos of my cards, etc recently. I am researching the better way to photo them. Hint : natural lighting
Off to get my tissue box!
Have a magical day!

Disney Tip Thursday

I was searching for today's tip post and came across the new Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs Resort information. The additional resort area for SSR will open on Monday, June 1st. After reading this blog post here:http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/2009/05/treehouse_villas_at_saratoga_s_1.html I am having second thoughts about changing our reservation in September to there! Check it out! They have updated flat screen TV's and updated modern looking kitchen. I also like the treehouse feeling of it! It turns out that they do have a pool over there and a walkway to get back over to the main resort area. We own DVC thru SSR so we in a sense also own at the Treehouse Villas! BONUS! We can book 11 months out instead of 7 months out at Treehouse Villas. BONUS! So now I might have to call and see if that week in September is available. (fingers crossed) Howard and I also have talked about selling some DVC points for a week trip to SSR. We are looking at $11-12 per point which is cheap for Disney luxury resort standards. Points depend on when you are going and how big a room you need. Example: a studio room for 4 on a Sunday - Saturday in September would be 75 points. If you are interested, let me know via email! Wacky Wednesday

Here is a simple idea that you can create in a flash! Take a folded 4.25" x 5.5" and stamp image on the front. (Optional - take a 4" x 4.25" scored at 2" then fold and attach to the bottom half for more support) Then add a favorite 2.75" x 4"picture to a background frame 3" x 4.25" in chocolate chip. I then cut out butterflies in two different contrasting colors with the Big Shot Butterfly Die Cut. I added a ribbon to make up the body and antennas. Place on card with dimensionals to pop off the card. I used Old Olive, Tangerine Tango and Chocolate Chip to match my office. Could be a card or a frame! I love this idea and plan to make some more. Many more! Have a magical day! Cindy

Memorial Monday

I cased this card above from a color challenge with Baha Breeze, Kraft and Not Quite Navy. I was looking for something to do with that hostess stamp set called A Little Somethin'. This inspired me to create another card in this layout but with a color combo from Heather on UStamp. I used Riding Hood Red and Basic Gray. Turned out great I think!
Remember to say thank you today!
Have a magical Memorial Day!

Fun Friday

I so love how this gift bag turned out! (click on pic to enlarge) It is a wine bag in Kraft from Target. I stamped the apple in Old Olive and Real Red all over the bag. Add the trim pieces on the bottom front. The Real Red was 1 1/2" x 5" scallop edge punched. The Old Olive was 2 1/2" x 5". The simple tag measured 2 3/8" x 3 1/8" in Real Red and 2" x 2 3/4" in white. I punched a hole in the left corner and attached to bag. Added the organza red ribbon in a bow. The "for you" is from the stamp set called A Great Friend from the SU Occasions Mini Catalog.
Here is the whole gift together!
I hope that you have enjoyed my posts this week! You can make bags/gifts like these too! Go try it!
Have a magical day!

This Thursday

I just love this cute little jar! You can buy them at Ikea 4 for $3.50, but I have seen them at Hobby Lobby for $1.50 each. I put green (fav color!) M & M's in there. Used Scallop punch on Real Red and 1 3/8" circle punch on Old Olive. Then stamped that cute little apple again on white and punch out in 1 1/4" circle. Added ribbon and done! Made these back at Christmas too. You can search thru December 2008 posts to see it. I almost put a big juicy red apple in the gift too! Kinda like Mrs Farmer's last apple, but we forgot. So tomorrow, you will see the whole gift together with the amazing gift bag! Be sure to check it out! Have a magical day! Cindy

Wacky Wednesday

So if you check back at the Desk Collection Workshop from yesterday's post, you will see the bookmark too. I simply made it here to match the teacher theme. I did not add the ribbon hanging down from it. You know teachers are all about reading! Make them a bookmark! Again, the colors are Kraft, Real Red and Old Olive. This stamp set is called Tart and Tangy and you can still buy it thru Stampin Up! If you are interested, send me an email! It is a really great set to have even if you do not stamp but once in awhile. You can make the quickest card with all the images on just white cardstock and different color inks! Check back tomorrow for more on the gift! Have a magical day! Cindy

This Tuesday

All this week, I am going to show you the gift that I made for a teacher who is retiring after her ENTIRE 30 years at Woodstock Elementary and teaching 5 year olds in Kindergarten! She is amazing! It combines alot of things that I have already made over the past few months. Today is the notepad holder and pen and the card. The notepad can be found here: http://nutmegcreations.blogspot.com/2009/04/wacky-wednesday.html The base in 4" x 6" in kraft. Real Red is 2" x 3 3/4". The Old Olive DSP is 3 3/4" x 3 3/4". The scallop edge is punch on a piece of 1 1/2". If you do not have the Summer Picnic designer paper left, then stamp the Tart & Tangy on Old Olive cardstock in Old Olive ink. I added the double ribbon of red and old olive grosgrain from SU! The pen is done with micro beads and you can see a tutorial here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/beaded_pens/ The card is simply made. It measures 4" x 4" in Old Olive. The red DSP is 3 3/4" x 3 3/4". The white is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" and stamped the apple from the Tart & Tangy set. The sentiment is from a Salebration set. Check back tomorrow for more of the gift! Have a magical day! Cindy

Made for Monday

Over a year ago, my friend and customer Beth gave me these photos of her four kids. Finally, I was doing this UStamp project and knew I had to use them! This is a 6 x 6 scrapbook page made to be a frame. You take longer 6 x 11 and score it to make the zig zag of the frame. I stamped the Baroque Motifs in Chocolate Chip on the Old Olive cardstock. Then add the photos from smallest in front to larger in the back. I also made the photos in a sepia color print using my HP Image Zone program. I dropped it off to Beth on Friday for a belated Mother's day. I put it in a 6 x 6 chocolate chip envelope from the Carousel notes. I hope she likes it! Have a magical day! Cindy

Fun Friday

Hoppy Birthday Jack and Aaron! We had a super time at Chuckie Cheese last night celebrating their 4th birthday! I can not believe they are 4!!! If you want to make this hoppy fellow then head over to Heather's blog here:http://stampwithheather.typepad.com/stamp_with_heather/2008/11/mr-hopping-frog.html She even has a video for you to watch.
Did you see him hop up? SO CUTE!
This is the inside of the card. I stamped a 4 and cut out. Then placed on a circle punch out. Colors are Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Real Red. I made this a tag card at the last minute and added a red star in his hands.
Have a magical day!

Wacky Wednesday

I have to share more of the watercolor roses that I made for Mother's Day cards. I was so in love with the watercoloring part of these. The trick is to emboss the rose/lily image in white craft ink and clear embossing powder. Then watercolor them as you wish in the areas to create light and dark areas of the flower. Cut them out when dry. The card is 5 x 5 (stamped images all over the background) and the circle vase is #6 on the Coluzze circle cutter (3 3/8"). Colors used are Regal Rose, Cameo Coral and Black, then Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss and So Saffron. These fit a 5 3/4" x 8" envelope or you can make one like I did. I made these for my mom and mother-in-law for them to have their favorite colored roses forever displayed. Have a magical day! Cindy

This Tuesday

Here is the bag that I made to show a complete gift set at my last class of the desk collection. See my post on the class here: http://nutmegcreations.blogspot.com/2009/04/wacky-wednesday.html Jill Hilliard (the designer) also made this bag for a gift and I thought that I could case it as well. I really love the tag for the long bag.
I used a wine bottle bag instead and stamped the flowers all over the front in black and kiwi kiss. Added trim pieces (one punched in eyelet border) and taped onto bag. Added the tag which measured total 2 3/4" x 3 1/2". Cut the paper 2 3/4" x 7" and fold in half. Add layers - black 2 1/2" x 3 1/4", kiwi kiss 2 1 /4" x 3", white stamped image 2" x 2 3/4". Punch hole thru card on top left corner and tie with ribbon to bag. Add a ribbon bow to finish it off.
This is the card I made to match for my mother's birthday gift. It is a gift card holder as well. I will show you how to make it in a coming post where I made one for a wedding card.
Have a magical day!

Made for Monday

I AM BACK! I finally got caught up, I hope. It was a good week off. I had a peaceful and quiet Mother's Day. My hubby and girls made me breakfast and got me very funny Mother's Day cards which I got a good chuckle out of them. I did get my Mother's Day wish...3 hours to myself, no interruptions, in my room creating new classes! I hope all the moms out there had a special day as well!!! I did find time to be creative and make some things that I have been wanting to make. I have seen this watercolor rose all over Splitcoaststampers.com so here is my try at it. I am ADDICTED! Wait til you see what else I made! Watercoloring is my favorite technique so no doubt I would love it. This is totally cased from a talented lady on Splitcoaststampers but I added the "for you" on oval punch. You can see the tutorial to make these roses here: http://pattystamps.com/pattys_stamping_spot/2009/04/watercolor-roses-technique-and-video-tutorial.html Inside of card since writing on red paper is hard to see. Thanks for stopping by! I will be posting cards and projects all this week. No new Mickey news to report. As requested, I will show the gift bag I made to match the desk collection set from my recent class. Have a magical day! Cindy
