Goodbye gift for a good friend

Yesterday was one of my co-workers last day at my work.  She is such a great supporter of my blog and creations. When she saw my June summer strawberry plate post here: summer-display, she mentioned to me how much she loved that kind of display of monthly decorations.  BINGO! Perfect farewell gift especially made for Glynda! So I got out all of my seasonal stamps and cardstock and got right to work.  Some of them are like my set I made at Wendy's but I had to change a few because I did not have the same stamp set for that month.  If you want to see the individual months and how to make this then stop by all next week!

Wedding card and gift packaging

I cased this card from Lynn Pratt at stampndesign.  She give a free template download to make the wedding dress.  I cut the template out of Whisper White.  I stamped the Baroque swirl image in Versamark and then embossed it in Iridesent Ice.  It actually looks a little like the Bridal designer paper that just retired.  I used 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon for the belt sash and added a clear rhinestone brad.  The groom was made from the template in Whisper White and Basic Black.  The buttons are retired vintage black brads.  I love how this card opens in the middle and the dress hides that fact.
The inside is a 4" x 5 1/4" whisper white piece.  I stamped the Baroque swirl image in Versamark on the corners and then embossed in Iridisent Ice.  I used the Whimiscal Words stamp set for the sentiment "Congratulations" in Basic Black.
The frame came in a box so I just covered the box in kraft wrapping paper.  I added a white tulle bow so that you could see the date.  The envelope has the Baroque swirl stamped in Basic Black.
And finally the happy couple on their wedding day!  Howard took this picture and I love the lighting in it.

MDS Wedding Frame

I saw this date frame idea in a home magazine and on a home decor blog called younghouselove.  I wanted to do photos of the numbers like I had seen but when time was running short, I searched for another way to create this wedding present.  Would I have time to stamp and layer and stamp and layer?  Nope.  So I decided to try the MDS way!  After viewing several MDS styles on Stampin Connection, I had my inspiration to create my own version!
You can see the close up of each of the numbers for all the details.  I used the 8.5x11 blank template.  I used the square punch to create the 5.25x7.25 box first.  Then I started my layers of designer papers, stamp images and the numbers. I used Basic Black, Crumb Cake and Whisper White.  I printed these on my printer on Whisper White cardstock.  I left a little extra around the sides so that I could attach them with tape onto the back of the mat.
I gave this to Howard's cousin Jade and new husband Wade at their wedding this weekend.  She loved it!  Tomorrow I will show you the card I made and how I packaged it.

My vintage clean card with MDS

This card uses the MDS paper I created last week.  I was excited that you could print Chocolate Chip on Crumb Cake cardstock!  So I was thinking of trying Crushed Curry on So Saffron next.  The color options are endless!  I cased this from someone off the Stampin Connection which is a website for demos only to share.  Just one of the perks for signing up with SU!
I sponged the edges in Close to Cocoa on the 3"x 5 1/4" MDS paper.  The Pretty in Pink is punched with the eyelet border and the Very Vanilla is punched with the Scallop Trim.  Both are sponged as well.  The sentiment is stamped in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla.  I punched a modern label in Pretty in Pink and 1/8" holes to match the eyelet border. Scallop Oval in Chocolate Chip is on the bottom layer. The ribbon is off brand brown that I had.  This is my version of vintage clean I guess.

My awesome MDS project tomorrow! Be sure to check back!

Another MDS hybrid creation

This is a case of Christine Miller's beautiful card.  I really loved the layout and colors of Bashful Blue and Soft Suede. I used the Friends 24-7 Bashful Blue on Very Vanilla MDS paper (Wednesday's post) and cut it into 2 3/4" x 4" pieces.  The flower image is from a now retired Hostess set called Of the Earth.  I used markers to do the flower in two colors and I also stamped it in soft suede on the background.  Can you see the eyelet border punch of Bashful Blue piece that I then ran thru the crimper?  LOVE IT!  The satin ribbon in cream was what I had on hand.  I think it was in a bunch of ribbons that my mom once used and gave to me years ago.  You can not even tell that MDS is on the card!

Do you see the MDS?

I saw this cased card on someone's blog but I forgot to put down the name and all I could find was the name Kasia.  Forgive me!  I took my Black on Whisper White Friends 24-7 image from the MDS (yesterday's post) and cut it into 2.5"x4" pieces.  I used Real Red on top card and Old Olive on the bottom card.  I stamped the Upsy Daisy image in Basic Black. I left these with no sentiment so that I could put a stamped Thank You and Happy Birthday in an oval or modern label punch at the bottom right corner.
So today I finally got my Stampin Up 2010-2011 Catalog and sat down to view it.  As I was drooling over it, Howard kept doing the cha-ching with each of my oohs and aahs.  Oh yeah, he is right about that!  :o)
Have a magical day!
p.s. do you like my signature?  It is a work in progress. Got the idea from my friend Monika.

Look what MDS can do!

I have been seeing alot of MDS hybrid cards on other blogs lately.  Patty Bennett (see here: Patty's Stamping Spot) really inspired me to think outside the "MDS" box as well as Heather Summers.  It all started cause there was some great cards that I wanted to case however I do not have the stamp set called Friends 24-7.  So while working on a MDS album of Allison's birthday, I had a AH-HA moment!
I simply made my own designer paper using the stamp image over and over on a landscape 8.5x11 page.  I printed them right off my own printer too!  I printed Black on Whisper White, Bashful Blue on Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip on Crumb Cake. You can insert duplicate page and change the color. The print quality is shocking and exciting!
Check back tomorrow and see the cards I made with the MDS paper!
